Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

It can be hard to start/stop the recorder at the exact moment. There are a few tricks to make this easier, one is to use a record trigger, basically a separate universe/channel that is only used to start/stop the recording (documented in the recording manual). Another option is to take the capture files (which are standard Wireshark files) and run a post-processor on the files to trim the capture data at a loop point. There is an open source project that can assist with that, see this link: https://github.com/HakanL/animatroller/wiki/Animatroller-Tools

This is most likely due to using non-approved/tested SD cards. Some SD cards have inconsistent timing when reading sectors, which combined with the lack of significant buffers and processing power of the embedded DMXking products can cause these artifacts. For error-free operation you should only use cards from the approved list. As a workaround you can enable the option "Hold Last Frame", but note that there will still be a short delay.

This is the current list of approved/tested SD cards (as of Oct 2020):

  • Samsung PRO+ (32GB, 64GB)
  • Samsung PRO Endurance (32GB, 64GB, 128GB)
  • Kingston Endurance (32GB, 64GB, 128GB)
  • Strontium Nitro A1 (32GB, 64GB, 128GB)
  • SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II (32GB, 64GB, 128GB)
